Who is SelfieBooks for?
It is for self-employed business owners, online sellers and informal business owners who can read and write and want simple records without hiring an accountant.
Do I need to know accounting?
No. SelfieBooks uses everyday words such as money in and money out. You type what happened and it does the bookkeeping.
How do I start?
Go to selfiebooks.app and create your account. You get a 14-day free trial.
How do I record a sale?
Type it the way you would say it, for example: Sold 3 bags of rice for GH₵450 cash. SelfieBooks records it and confirms what it wrote down.
How do I record money I spent?
Type it as a message, for example: Paid GH₵120 for transport. SelfieBooks records it as money out.
Can I keep track of money people owe me?
Yes. Type something like: Kofi owes me GH₵200. SelfieBooks notes it for you.
What reports will I see?
Reports use everyday words: money in, money out and what is left. You can see how you did without learning accounting terms.
Can I record sales with a photo?
Yes. You can record by chat or by photo. Type what happened or take a picture, and SelfieBooks records it.
Can I make invoices and receipts?
Yes. SelfieBooks makes invoices and receipts with your own logo on them.
Can I send a receipt to my customer on WhatsApp?
Yes. After you record a sale, you can send the receipt to your customer on WhatsApp or copy its link.
Can I see who owes me and how much profit I made?
Yes. Your home screen shows the money you have in cash, bank and mobile money, who owes you, who you owe, and your profit this month.
Do I need a special phone?
No. SelfieBooks works on any phone. Open selfiebooks.app in your phone's browser.
Will SelfieBooks ask me about stock?
Only if your kind of business needs it. Food businesses, salons and service providers, and farms are not asked for stock. Shops that resell goods can track it.
I make items to sell, such as clothes. Can I add them with a photo?
Yes. Tailors and fashion designers can add a made item with a photo, its price and, if they want, what it cost to make.
How much does SelfieBooks cost?
There are three plans, and you start with a 14-day free trial. One company is GH₵70 a month, up to 3 companies is GH₵140 a month, and up to 5 companies is GH₵200 a month.
What is a company?
A company is one business you keep books for in SelfieBooks. If you run a shop and a salon as two businesses, that is two companies.
Is there a yearly plan?
Yes. Paying yearly is 20% cheaper. That is GH₵672 a year for 1 company, GH₵1,344 for up to 3 companies, and GH₵1,920 for up to 5 companies.
What do extra shop attendants cost?
One shop attendant is included in your plan. Each extra attendant costs GH₵20 a month.
Can my staff use SelfieBooks too?
Yes. There are two kinds of access: owner and shop attendant. Your attendant can record what happens in the shop while you keep control of your books.
How many people can use my account?
You, the owner, plus one shop attendant are included. Add more attendants for GH₵20 a month each.
Is my information safe?
SelfieBooks keeps backups of your records off-site, so a problem with one system does not lose your books.
Where can I use SelfieBooks?
SelfieBooks is built for Ghana first, with the wider African market in mind. Prices are in Ghana cedis.
